EMMA GOLDBLATT
It’s been such a great month of animal advocacy! This month’s newsletter will highlight the success of some of our recent Synagogue Vegan Challenge events! From an environmental presentation, to sandwich making for the hungry, it sparked meaningful dialogue around mindful consumption and the importance of spreading compassion. Upcoming events include our Yoga & Prayer circle for the animals on April 21. Dive deeper into community involvement by filling out a survey, becoming a member, or pledging to one of our many campaigns. Let’s sow seeds of positive change together! 🌿
Synagogue Vegan Challenge Event Spotlight:
Dayenu Teach-in for Climate Justice
“The Dayenu Affinity Group put on the potluck and gave a presentation on the importance of plant-based food production in a movement to heal climate disruption. The event was exceptionally well-received and attracted a lot of our new members!“
-Maxine E, Chochmat HaLev – Berkeley, CA

Sandwich Making for Ve’ahavta
\I shared some thoughts on how we can apply kindness to humans and animals, and that is why we were coming together to make vegan sandwiches for the homeless in Toronto. We then got to work, making and bagging sandwiches. A collegue dropped them off today for distribution. By the way, this was a very cheap event, and we made 100 sandwiches to distribute!! I would highly recommend this for other shuls if they are looking for lower cost ideas!
-Rachel L, Toronto, Canada
Vegan Purim Prep & Plant based Presentation
“Our congregants came to bake Vegan Hamentashen in the CBS kitchen! We learned how to make these planet friendly Purim treats with our own expert Shabbas Chef, Tamar Libicki, followed by a learning session. In this power point lecture by Cecily Rosen from Temple Beth Am in Seattle; we looked at the how and why to make the transition to a vegan life, including a focus Jewish values in regards to animals and factory farming, environment and health and human rights. We also talked about the substitutes for dairy and eggs and share recipes and cooking techniques. Passover without eggs? Absolutely.“
-Sam Perlin, Congregation Beth Shalom – Seattle
