It’s been another great month of advocating for animals and spreading our vegan message! Check out some highlights below of what we did in January, and see how you can get involved in the coming months!
Synagogue Vegan Challenge Event Spotlight:

Tu B’shvat seder with Toronto Partnership Minyan
“We began with a vegan falafel dinner, and I shared some sources on the history and traditions Tu Bishvat. I taught about our responsibility to protect the enviroment, and how this connects to Tu Bishvat, and shared a graph (from Shamayim) on the environmental impact of different foods. We then split into groups and discussed these impacts and their relation to the ethical choices we make with food! We finished with a joyous Tu bishvat seder, and focused on connecting our foods (almonds, grape juice, mangos) to the environment around us, Our event was fantasic and very well received. As a bonus, people were really excited and grateful to hear about your sponsorship and expressed interest in future vegan events.”

The Selma and Lawrence Ruben Base- NYC– Reconnecting to the Earth: Tu b’Shevat Seder
“Slowly worked our way through the Tu b’Shevat Seder with a special importance on the ways in which we connect to each season. With a mix of discussion groups and group sharing, we explored how each season’s themes can inspire our own spiritual growth. And of course, we had a delicious vegan dinner!”

Tu B’shvat and the Trees- Adat Shalom Synagogue
“This Tu B’sh our intergenerational program “Better Together” which is made up of our 5th and 6th grades plus older community members). Participants learned about the trees native to Michigan, how we take responsibility for the Earth as shomrei adamah, and what we are able to do. As part of learning what the trees give us we made: maple soda, pine needle tea, popsicle stick bird feeders, and acorn paintings! Everyone enjoyed learning about our environment and exploring the holiday from a new perspective.”
